  2. on Understanding Media  and the subtitle is The  
  3. Extensions of Man . So one general statement is, 
  4. ‚ÄúEvery technology, every innovation, amplifies or 
  5. enlarges or extends or enhances‚Äîblows up in 
  6. some way‚Äîsomething that is already there.‚Äù You 
  7. take something that‚Äôs already present and you 
  8. enlarge it with this new technology or technique. 
  9. So, motorcars, for example, let you go faster than 
  10. horses do. Airplanes let you go considerably 
  11. faster, and farther, and so on. Every new 
  12. innovation extends or amplifies or does something 
  13. with human experience, it opens it up in a new way.
